The European Commission has published the "Strategy Definition and Road Mapping for Industrial Technologies to Address Grand Challenges" report, elaborated under supervision of the Unit for NanoSciences & NanoTechnologies of the Directorate General for Research & Innovation of the EC. The main aim is to assess the links and relevance of present Nanosciences, Nanotechnologies, Materials and new production technologies (NMP) activities to the major technical issues and bottlenecks associated with Grand Challenges, providing a set of operational recommendations.

NANOYOU develops a strong educational curriculum for young people aged 11-18 and a wide range of activities in science centres for 18-25s. NANOYOU is funded by the European Commission's Seventh Framework Programme.

Die Innovationsgesellschaft, St.Gallen hat in einem Projekt des Schweizer Bundesamtes für Bildung und Technologie (BBT) und in Zusammenarbeit mit verschiedenen Partnern die Wissens- und Bildungsplattform Swiss Nano-Cube (http://www.swissnanocube.ch/) entwickelt. Damit steht die erste, interaktive Wissens- und Bildungsplattform zur Mikro- und Nanotechnologie für Schulen und insbesondere für die Berufsbildung zur Verfügung. Bei Jugendlichen soll damit das Interesse für technisch-naturwissenschaftliche Themen geweckt und gleichzeitig praxisrelevantes Wissen zur Nanotechnologie für Berufsfachleute vermittelt werden.
