CRANN (Centre for Research on Adaptive Nanostructures and Nanodevices) at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland is recognised internationally as a leading institute for nanoscience research.
CRANN’s diverse researcher base, our international reputation and the institute’s world class infrastructure which includes our state of art Advance Microscopy facility are seen as key enablers for collaboration. CRANN has actively engaged with over 100 industrial partners and 150 universities to date and focuses on translating our research expertise into industrial engagements. We operate a comprehensive engagement model, scalable to each organization’s requirements and have fully validated this model in our engagements with leading multinationals such as INTEL, HP & DePuy.
CRANN’s bio-themed research groups span a range of inter-disciplinary areas including Nanobiology, Cell Biology and Genetics, Chemistry, Pharmacology and Magnetics and are actively involved in a number of EU projects including FP7 (NAMDIATREAM, MULTIFUN), ETP Nanomedicine (Nanodiagnostic WG), NanoSafety Cluster, QNANO, and EUMINAFAB.
Current research activities focus on the areas of Nanotechnology, Nanotoxicology, Nanomedicine, Nanosafety, Biosensors, Pharmacology and Drug delivery systems which have been enabled through the active ongoing research at the Institute of Molecular Medicine and its core multi-user facilities such as the Nanomedicine and Molecular Imaging Laboratory and the Irish National Center for High Content Screening and Analysis based at the St. James’s Hospital campus of the College.
